Scholarship documents checklist for school and college students
Every document scholarship providers commonly ask for, how to prepare each one, and how to avoid verification delays.
Why documents decide most applications
Eligible students lose scholarships every year because a certificate expired or a scan was unreadable. Building a ready-to-use folder once saves hours on every future application.
Identity and bank
- Government photo ID (Aadhaar, passport or national ID)
- Recent passport-size photograph and signature scan
- Bank passbook or cancelled cheque in the student's name
Academic
- Marksheets for the last two qualifying exams
- Admission letter or bonafide certificate from the current institution
- Fee structure or fee receipt
- Entrance exam scorecard, if relevant
Eligibility proofs
- Income certificate for the current financial year
- Caste, community or minority certificate
- Domicile or residence certificate for state schemes
- Disability certificate, where applicable
Preparation tips
Scan in colour at a readable resolution, keep each file under the size limit the portal states, name files clearly (for example name_income_2026.pdf), and note expiry dates. Store them in the ScholarX Document Locker so they are private, organised and ready whenever a new award opens.
Find scholarships you actually qualify for
Build your profile once and ScholarX shows only awards you are eligible for, with match scores and deadline reminders.
